Woodbridge Senior High School Robotics Team Places 5th at VEX Worlds

Woodbridge, VA, April 26, 2016 – The Woodbridge Senior High School (WSHS) robotics team competed over the weekend in the 2016 VEX World Robotics Championship competition. The competition, which holds the Guinness world record for the largest robotics event, was hosted at the Kentucky Expo Center April 21-23. It brought just over 1,000 of the world’s top robotics teams to celebrate their accomplishments and compete against each other.

Each year, the competition presents a new challenge, and this year was “Nothing but Net,” a hoop game. The square robots were tasked with collecting soft NERF balls, about the size of oranges, and shooting baskets. Most of the robots for this specific challenge were box-like, and included a flywheel that can scoop up balls and spit them back out.

A recap of the VEX World Robotics Championship will be shown on ESPN 2 on July 20, 2016.
