MAG Welcomes Louie Duran as Senior Law Enforcement Advisor

capturelouieWoodbridge, VA – October 12, 2016 – MAG is excited to welcome former Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Aero Bureau Captain Louie Duran as a Senior Law Enforcement Aviation Advisor.

For five years of his law enforcement career, Louie Duran worked for the Office of Homeland Security, assigned to Aero Bureau Operations. Remaining in the OHS until 2013, and being a certified pilot himself (fixed wing and rotary), he oversaw the aviation unit as the Unit commander, managing 96 total personnel, a fleet of 25 aircrafts, and an $11 million maintenance budget. During his time as Unit Commander, Captain Louie Duran became responsible for the largest aircraft acquisition in the county’s history.

In his 36-year career in law enforcement, Louie Duran worked in numerous bureaus of law enforcements including Operation Safe Streets (OSS) in Los Angeles, providing gang suppression and investigation support to the jurisdictions of Los Angeles, CA, for nine years as a Sergeant. In 2003, Louie Duran was promoted to Lieutenant, becoming Watch Commander at the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department Inmate Reception Center (IRC) for five years. During that time, he was assigned at Norwalk Station as Detective Bureau Commander.

Louie Duran studied Civil Engineering in 1975 at California State University, Long Beach. He later received an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Mount San Antonio College in 1987, the same year he graduated from the 151st Class of the National Academy of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He later attended USC Viterbi School of Engineering from 2008-2012.
